Evaluation Criteria
Teams will be judged on the following main criteria
Originality
Innovation that is different in an improved or better way from the same or similar solutions currently in the local/global market tackling the same problem.
Marketability
Innovation that firstly solve a specific problem for the target market. And secondly that it can be produced and profitably sold to the target at an affordable price.
Scalability
Innovation that can be easily replicated or expanded elsewhere beyond the Applicant’s home market without major or expensive adaptation to the new market.
Social Impact
The implementation of this innovation will contribute to address a pressing social problem and the impact can be sustained over a long period of time.
Technical/Scientific Soundness
Innovation prototyped and expressed with sufficient technical details that may enable industry/academia experts to assess the validity of the claims made in the application.
Technology
Innovation is technically impressive and is not so easy to tackle because it particularly requires a clever technique or many different components put together in an efficient way.
Design
Innovation relies on user experience and the interface is well designed to be user friendly.
(SMILE :)
Seminars for the Mindset of Innovation and Leadership in Engineering
Let’s smile for better hope
About
SMILE is a series of technical seminars that aims to promote the innovation and leadership in engineering. It is a tribune for researchers,, alumni, and professionals to share experience and knowledge that help students embrace a growth mindset, which is mandatory for generating innovative ideas for entrepreneurship in the digital sector. SMILE is hence thought to constitute a bridge to get into competitions on innovation and leadership such as ESPOIR. .Innovative idea generation techniques are activities and approaches that can help people process and analyze their thoughts in order to think of new inventions, solutions or designs. This involves asking powerful questions, recognizing positive learning experiences and maintaining a positivity ratio, in order to foster a culture of experimentation where failures are seen as valuable assets on the journey to innovation.. To this end, various practical techniques can be used such as brainstorming Round Robin, and SCAMPER.
